Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be required to coordinate mechanical maintenance program(s) and related activities and supervise assigned skilled tradespeople. Moreover, the candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining mechanical maintenance services within established guidelines and standards, and performing skilled mechanical maintenance as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess equipment, materials, and labour needed to complete large and/or complex maintenance tasks to ensure that maintenance activities meet district standards and resolve defined issues while reducing wasted resources.
- Collaborate with others (e.g. contractors, vendors, etc.) to implement and maintain services and/or programs.
- Coordinate the services and activities of outside contractors as assigned to ensure that contracted work is completed in a safe, effective, and timely manner that meets Mill’s standards and objectives.
- Directly assigned maintenance staff in resolving complex and/or difficult maintenance issues to ensure that Mill sections are maintained in a safe and effective working/learning environment.
- Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and vehicle(s) to ensure their availability as needed to meet assigned maintenance objectives.
- Maintain a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records to provide up-to-date references and comply with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
- Prepare a variety of program-mandated documents and reports to document activities and comply with Mill and/or legal requirements.
- Performs a wide variety of skilled (and sometimes complex) maintenance activities to ensure that maintenance issues are resolved and projects are completed in a safe, effective, and timely manner.
- Prioritize and assign mechanically related work orders to skilled maintenance staff to ensure that sections are maintained in a safe working/learning environment and meet guidelines within the approved budget.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in the feasibility studies for modification at proposal stages.
- Assists in the personnel management of department employees (e.g. selection of new hires, promotions, terminations, transfers, supervising, disciplining, training, etc.) to maintain staffing needs and productivity of the workforce.
- Evaluates and direct the performance of the team and team members against goals and standards of conduct to ensure maximum performance.
Qualifications:
- N3 and a Mechanical Trade test Certificate
- Minimum 3 years’ plant operations experience
- Computer Literate in Microsoft Office Package
- 2 years of supervisory experience or a background of working as a team leader would be an added advantage
- SAP knowledge will be advantageous
