Job Summary:
The successful candidate will supervise and organize the development and implementation of a data mining and analysis ability, which is focused on physical security risks. This includes the development and execution of data searching and analysis methodologies that will identify past and potentially future occurring activities, including identifying potential cases for further advising.
Requirements:
- A post-graduate degree in Social, Law, Military, Police, or Management Sciences with a focus on socio-economic research, sustainability, or related fields.
- Knowledge of basic social science research methodology and basic project management skills would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 10 years of working experience in analysis and research.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in the Security/Crime Intelligence/Risk Analysis environment
- Experience and use of business intelligence tools, data mining, and analysis software such as Power BI, IDEA, Audit Command Language (ACL), Tableu, Spotfire, Analyst Notebook, Microsoft Office Tools.
- A Code 8 Driver’s license code 08 as the candidate will be traveling as required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the identification, collection, analyses
and interpretation of operational and strategic information relating to security threat data from multiple sources. - Ensure the integration of security aspects across Transnet. The function will ensure that physical security aspects are focused on, that they are inclusive of business intelligence.
- The candidate will be required to initiate the main goals and objectives of Transnet Group
Security which is: Reduction of Incidents, Standardised Operating Methodologies, Force Multiplies, and Cost Optimisation. - Secure Information Management, the development, and implementation of collation systems as well as the database.
- Support Security Integration function like conducting data analysis and reporting concerning security patterns, hotspots, financial and business implications, including profiling of related internal or external entities and individuals associated with reoccurring physical security incidents.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide inputs to strategic planning documents such as policies, procedures, SOPs, Corporate Plan and Management Plan, and business intelligence systems.
- Identify, evaluate, obtain and utilize relevant physical security detection data analysis software cost-effectively, taking data import capability, visualization ability, and matching capacity into consideration.
- Design and implement database architecture in support of Security Integration aligned with Transnet IT architecture and IT security requirements.
- Effectively manage external service providers to perform activities including but not limited to data provision and high alert crime detention.
- Apply appropriate analytical techniques, methodologies, and technologies to determine the potential threat and impact on Transnet.
- Support the Security Integration function insofar as analyzing and researching threat actor-centric analysis, inter alia, in support of and collaboration with the Operating Division to a central point.
- Monitor research and access new sources to enhance the analysis of information security threats to Group Security.
- Develop and implement textual analytics.
- Develop and implement visual analytics.
- Identify, obtain and manage sources of internal and external business intelligence information in support of the security integration function.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with law enforcement such as SAPS, NPA, Crime Intelligence, and State Security.
- design, implement and maintain effective business intelligence information collation systems.
- Develop a risk assessment and early warning system of potential disruption.
- Collect individual and company profiles of entities relevant to physical security threats.
- Monitor different platforms to detect security alarms or threats against the organization
- Assure the development and reporting of findings to stakeholders at various organizational levels including OD, Group, and relevant governance committees.
- Develop, create and drive current and new reporting methods of threat intelligence analysis for situational
awareness and making this intelligence actionable. - Provide high-quality periodic reporting on threat landscapes and their status at various seniority levels.
- Manage and facilitate weekly, monthly, and annual physical security reports.
