The Department of Higher Education and Training Indlela seeks to provide 3000 unemployed university graduates an employment and on the job training opportunities in the higher education sector, as part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI)-Higher Education Employment Initiative (HEEI), which forms part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES), seeking to mitigate the devastating economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Youth between the ages of 18 and 35, who are currently unemployed, not studying full time, nor receiving any form of a government grant (including NSFAS), and young people living with disability and women, are eligible and encouraged to apply for this enriching experience.



Candidates selected for placement will have an opportunity to receive on-the-job training on various skills that will equip them for future employment opportunities.
All successful candidates will be placed on graduate Internships (in universities they graduated from) for six months, from 1 April 2022 to 30 September 2022, for the following available opportunities:

●Finance
●Administration
●ICT
●Human Resources
●Legal
●Auditing
●Institutional support
●Research
●Supply Chain
●Properties
●Any other specialist areas

To qualify as an Internship placement, you must have completed your qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree) at the University of Fort Hare and provide proof of same. Applicants in a debt repayment agreement for fees owed to the university may also apply.

To work in the university environment, you must have an excellent ability to work with people and within groups, have good communication skills, be a good listener, and be interested in serving the university community.

Should you receive notice that you have been shortlisted, you will be required to submit the following documents:

●Curriculum Vitae (CV)
●Testimonials (x 2)
●Police clearance certificates / Affidavit/●Declaration by the applicant stating they have no criminal record while awaiting the Police clearance (only if required in line with the university policy requirements)
●Certified qualifications such as Matric and university qualification, or confirmation of completion.
●Certified copy of South African identity document (this opportunity is only available to South African Citizens and permanent residents)

Please note that the recruitment and placement of Graduate Interns will be done in line with the university’s policies.
