Home Affairs Youth Jobs- To fight youth unemployment, the Home Affairs Department in partnership with the Department of Employment and Labour is looking for 2005 young people between the ages of 18-35 to apply for a project where they will be assisting the Home Affairs Department with the digitization of birth, marriage and amendments records.

The successful candidates will be responsible for restoring, preserving, and reconstructing old records by digitizing hard copy records to electronic format, for easier handling and storage.

Ten (10) different positions have been created for the digitization of records which will enable the optimum realization of the department’s mandate for easy access to records for service delivery purposes.

Duration: November, 1st 2022 to October 31st, 2025

Fixed Term Contract: Three years

Location: Home Affairs Department in Gauteng and North West

Closing Date: September 15th, 2022

Home Affairs Youth Jobs Minimum Requirement:

  • Must be between the ages of 18-35

Available Positions and Stipends:

1. Position: Runner and Prepper (320 posts)

Stipend: R5000 per month

2. Position: Re-assembler (200 Posts)
Stipend: R5000 per month

3. Position: Receiving Clerk(50 Posts)

Stipend: R5000 per month

4. Position: Drivers (8 posts)

Stipend: R5000 per month

5. Position: Indexer (800 posts)

Stipend: R5500 per month

6. Position: Scanner (400 posts)

Stipend: R5000 per month

7. Position: Quality Controller (100 posts)

Stipend: R6000 per month

8. Position: Team leaders (104 posts)

Stipend: R6500 per month

9. Position: Technical Support (12 posts)

Stipend: R9500 per month

10. Position: Manager (6 posts)

Stipend: R14 250 per month

Home Affairs Youth Jobs Required Qualification Per Post:

Positions: Runner and Preppers, Re-assemblers, Receiving Clerks, and Drivers

Required Qualification: Diploma in Document and/or Records Management or Information Technology

Please Note: A valid driver’s license will also be required for drivers. 

1. Positions: Indexers, Scanners, Quality Controllers

Required Qualification: Diploma in Information Technology or Library Science or Computer Science

2. Position: Team leaders

Required Qualification: Degree in Document and/or Records Management or Information Technology or Computer Science

3. Position: Technical Support

Required Qualification: Honours Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science

4. Position: Managers

Required Qualification: Master’s Degree in Document and/or Records Management, Information Technology, Library Science, or Computer Science

Home Affairs Youth Jobs Duties Per Post:

1. Position: Position: Runner and Prepper

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Retrieval of files from shelves
  • Sort and list files
  • Prepare documents for scanning; unfolding, removing staples and paper clips, sorting
    by document size, insertion of separator sheets
  • Sort files in batches
  • Numbering of files and documents

2. Position: Managers

Duties And Responsibilities:

  •  Manage and lead a team

3. Position: Technical Support

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for IT infrastructure

4. Position: Team Leaders

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day activities
  • Duty allocation (allocation of work activities)
  • Manage performance
  • Provide daily / weekly reports to the PMO

5. Position: Indexers

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Indexing of files
  • Sort and list files
  • Re-assemble files
  • Box files in batches

6. Position: Quality Controllers

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality control for all relevant functions

7. Position: Scanners

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Scanning material using a high-volume scanner
  • Loading the scanner and scanning bundles
  • Image clean up

8. Position: Drivers

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Load and deliver boxes to digital bureaus and back to the source

9. Position: Receiving Clerks

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Verify boxes and files received
  • Capture and number boxes and files received

10. Position: Re-Assemblers

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Retrieval of files digitized
  • Return files to shelves
  • Verify files with initial files received from the source
