Educator Assistants And General Assistants– As Phase 3 of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative has come to the end, the Department of Basic Education has stated that the contracts of the candidates that were on the third phase will not be renewed. As a result, 255 000 job opportunities are available for young people for the next phase (Phase IV).
As part of its employment initiative to fight youth unemployment, the Basic Education Department invites young people who are between the ages of 18 and 34 to apply for Educator Assistants and General Assistants positions. Successful candidates will be placed in various schools across the nine provinces from February 2023 and will receive monthly stipends.
As the current phase (Phase IV) is currently on its advertizing period, unemployed youth are requested to register on the application platform that has been provided by the Basic Education Department.

Stipend: R4 081.44 per month

Available Positions:
Educator Assistants: Reading Champions, Curriculum Assistants, Care And Support Assistants
General Assistants: Sport And Enrichment Assistants, Handymen/Handywomen
Educator Assistants & General Assistants Minimum Requirements:
- Be between the ages of 18-34
- Must NOT be in education, employment or training (NEET).
- Must not have been part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative before.
- Be staying at the location of the school that you wish to be placed at.
Additional Requirements:
Educator Assistants:
- Grade 12 is the minimum requirement, a tertiary qualification in Education will be advantageous.
General Assistants:
- No Matric Required
Registration Process:
The government has urged all candidates who meet the requirements to NOT walk into schools to submit their applications in schools.
Interested applicants should register their profile on SAYouth.mobi as all applications will ONLY be received from that platform. Register on the platform as soon as possible, as applications will officially open on September 26th, 2022. Interviews will be beld between November and December, 2022.
Do not send your applications to Sasa-vacancies as it will not be received by the Basic Education Department. Failure to adhere to the requirements will only lead to a failed application.
