Onsetter Learnership: Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine invites historically disadvantaged South Africans who have Grade 9 to apply for the Onsetter learnership.

The aim of the learnership programme is to provide successful candidates with the required exposure to institutional learning and workplace experience that will enable them to obtain a qualification and meet the needs and requirements of the Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Union Mine operations.

Learners will be provided with relevant information needed to receive the onsetter qualification through on-and off the-job training. Furthermore, they will receive a monthly stipend.

Onsetter Learnership Minimum Requirements:

Grade 9 or AET Level 4, and minimum of two years experience in an operational shaft environment will be an added advantage.
Certificate of fitness of fitness and a positive Psychometric Assessment will be required from shortlisted candidates.

Onsetter Learnership Programme:

During the Learnership, learners will be required to adhere to basic occupational health and safety practices pertaining to shaft operations. Furthermore, they will be required to load and offload persons into and from a shaft conveyance.

Practicals During The Programme:

Signaling arrangements and safety devices in a shaft.
Load and remove long material and rolling stock into and from a shaft conveyance.
Sling material into and remove slung material from a shaft.
Prepare a conveyance for shaft examination and repairs and change a conveyance in a shaft.
Keep up to date with development plan requirements and complete all practical assessments.
Liase with HRD department regarding training process and provide progress update to all responsible parties on a regular basis.
