Artisans: Boiler Operators Minimum Requirements:
Boiler Operator:
- Grade 10 – 12 certificate and Boiler Operation certificate or equivalent.
- Relevant experience as a boiler assistant is required.
Assistant Boiler Operator:
- Grade 10 – 12 certificate and minimum boiler operation experience.
- A Boiler Operation certificate is advantageous.
Please Note: All applicants must have knowledge of the Occupational and Safety Act (OHS) and must be willing to work overtime and be on standby.
Boiler Operation Duties:
- Ensure safe Boiler Operation in the hospital.
- Supervise boiler assistants (Boiler Operators)
- Maintain safe incinerator Operation.
- Consistency in reporting and recording in the boiler operation logbook.
- Timing of coal and ash removal from grit arrester
- Cleaning of the boiler
- Regular maintenance of ash trolleys.
- Proper usage of protective clothing.
- Cleaning the brine tank and water filter.
- Apply chemicals and salt to brine tank
as prescribed.
