Correctional Centre Visitors (3-Year Contract) : The Judicial Inspectorate For Correctional Services invites interested applicants to apply for Independent Correctional Services Visitor positions.

The successful candidates will be responsible for visiting various correctional facilities and attend to inmates and officials’ complaints.

Salary: R68 100 per annum (R5 675 per month) plus 37% in lieu of benefits

Correctional Centre Visitors (3-Year Contract) Minimum Requirements:

Must be in possession of a Grade 12/ Matric certificate.
Computer Literacy
Knowledge of Batho Pele principles, public spirited and passion for human rights.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Work well independently.
A valid driver’s license and own transport will be advantageous.
A recommendation of nomination
as an Independent Correctional Centre Visitor by a community organization (this must not be older than 6 months).

Duties And Responsibilities:

Visit correctional facilities daily and engage with inmates and officials on complaints and other issues.
Monitor the conditions of imprisoment and report on discoveries or findings.
Monitor and report on all instances of death, segregations, use of mechanical restraints and use of force in the correctional centre.
Support officials from JICS during inspections and investigations.
Capture inmate complaints and compulsory issues.
