Metro Police Officers – 2023 Intake: The eThekwini municipality invites interested candidates who are not older than 35 years old to apply for Traffic Officer positions.

The successful candidates will be responsible for Controlling traffic and pedestrians at various facilities and issuing traffic offence notices to motorists and the public.

Salary: R16 499.56 – R21 418.12 per month (benefits include 13th cheque, medical aid, pension fund and housing subsidy)

Metro Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

Be in possession of a Matric/Grade 12 certificate.
South African citizen or have permanent residence in the Republic of South Africa. Applicants will be required to provide documentary proof.
Good communication skills in English and another South African official language.
Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license (Code B). If applicants do not have a valid driver’s license, they must obtain one within 9 months, and pass a driver’s evaluation by the Durban Metropolitan Police Service.
Have a clear criminal record.
Applicants must be physically and mentally fit.

Metro Police Officers – 2023 Intake Duties And Responsibilities:

Attend vehicle accident scenes by way of reporting the nature of location and extent of the accident to the control room.
Deal with criminal offences and reporting serious incidents to the control room.
Attend court in order to submit evidence.
Performing point duties at faulty or out of order robots.
Initiate the necessary preliminary action at any emergency/disaster.
Attend to complaints made by the public and controlling traffic and pedestrians.
Issue traffic offence notices to motorists and the public.
