Learn & Earn Government Programme 2023: The Western Cape Provincial Government invites young people who are between the age of 17-24 to apply for a work experience programme where they will get on-the-job training in any of the 13 Western Cape government departments and receive a monthly stipend.
The aim of the programme is to assist young people who have just completed Grade 12 and have no financial and career choice support to gain administration work experience, training and development. The programme starts on the 1st of April 2023 and ends on the 31st of March, 2024.
Learners Will Be Placed In The Following Government Departments:
- Department of the Premier
- Department of Agriculture
- Department of Community Safety
- Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport
- Department of Economic Development and Tourism
- Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning
- Department of Health (and Wellness)
- Department of Transport and Public Works (Mobility)
- Department of Local Government
- Department of Social Development
- Department of Human Settlements (Infrastructure)
- Provincial Treasury
- Western Cape Education Department (WCED)

Learn & Earn Government Programme 2023 Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must be South African citizens who are not older than 24 years of age and are residing in the Western Cape.
- Must have written a National Senior Certificate exam (NSC) in the Western Cape and have passed Grade12/Matric.
- Have no tertiary qualification and are not going to study in 2023.
- Financially constrained (disadvantaged background)
- No support to assist in making a career choice and no work expeprience.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Can operate office equipment.
Programme Outcome:
Upon the completion of the programme, learners will have enough skills and work experience that will make them more marketable to future employers.
They will also get contactable references on their Curriculum Vitae and will have career awareness exposure to assist them to make informed career choices together with a network to support and guide them.

The Western Cape Education Department will verify the final results. As per the legislation, personal information and documentation will also be verified.
