Latest Companies Offering YES 4 Youth Programmes: In March 2018, the South African government launched the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative to break the barriers that make it difficult for young people to enter the job market.
Hundreds of companies have created opportunities that allow them to promote the creation of youth employment.
To date, thousands of companies across the country have registered for the YES campaign to assist young people in gaining relevant work experience and critical skills that help them become employable. As a result, thousands of jobs have been created eversince the programme was launched.
Through the YES campaign, the successful candidates get a one-year work-based experience in a chosen field and they earn a monthly stipend.
During the programme, candidates are expected to gain knowledge and increase their understanding of the work involved in a field while complying with the company’s policies and procedures.
Criteria To Qualify For The Programme:
- The applicant must be unemployed and must not have previously participated in a similar programme.
- The age limit is 18 – 35, depending on the company’s preferences.
- Must be a South African citizen.
Latest Companies Offering YES 4 Youth Programmes:
1. PG GROUP
PG Group has a Work Integrated Learning FET/TVET-YES opportunity for unemployed youth who have a Grade 12 certificate and/or TVET qualification.
The minimum requirements to qualify for the programme include communication skills, problem-solving abilities and knowledge of general hygiene.
Appointed applicants will be placed in various PG Group divisions across the country. They will be recieving a monthly stipend as determined by the company.
2. Spar SA, Catalyx and Build It
Spar SA, Catalyx and Build it have joined hand to give young people the opportunity to apply for a Yes 4 Youth work experience opportunity. The duration of the programme is 12 months.
Interested applicants must have Matric, be between the ages of 18 and 28, unemployed and not studying full time, have a clear crimimal record, and willing to work retail hours.
Shortlisted candidates will undergo the Jumpstart training, which is interviews and 1-week work experience. Although they are not essential, FET Technical qualifications will be an added advantage.
3. BMW Group
The BMW Group has announced that it will be collaborating with the relevant parties to participate in South Africa’s Youth Employment initiative. The company aims to provide 510 jobs in its dealerships across the country.
