YeBo Academic Support Programme – 2023: Year Beyond organization invites young people who are passionate about working with learners to apply for the YeBo Academic Support Programme 2023.
The successful candidates will be trained as YeboNeers/Academic tutors and based in different low and no-fee schools to assist struggling Grade 3 and 4 learners who are achieving Code 2 to 4 levels.
Each candidate/YeboNeer will be working with a total of 20 learners per month, assisting 10 learners twice a week. A mentor will be assigned to all candidates during their year of service to assist them in developing their skills so they can reach their full potential.
At the end of the programme, candidates will receive a Certificate of Service, a bespoke reference letter highlighting the skills that they have acquired and will be introduced to opportunity providers at a career fair.

YeBo Academic Support Programme – 2023 Minimum Requirements:
- Interested applicants must be in possession of a Grade 12/Matric certificate.
- Reside in the Eastern Cape or the Western Cape.
- Must be between the ages of 18-25 years old.
- Have excellent communication skills and passionate about making a difference in your community and working with pupils.
- Self-motivated, energetic and positive attitude.
- Willing to be on site/school every Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 (40-hour work shift per week)
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Support the teacher during the day and provide one on one paired reading support to the learners on the programme.
- Run a catch-up After School Programme that incorporates literacy, numeracy and homework support using Teaching At The Right Level Principles.
- Meet with a mentor on Fridays for reflection and further training.
- Improve academic outcomes, progression rates and non-academic outcomes.
- Reduce school dropout rates.
- Participate wholeheartedly in all aspects of the YearBeyond experience.
