Matric Exams Supervisors – 2023/24: The Department Of Education invites unemployed people that are younger than 60 years of age to apply for Invigilator positions.
As invigilators, the successful applicants will be responsible for supervising Matriculants during the National Senior Certificate/Senior Certificate part-time centres 2023/24 Examinations.
Before the examinations commence, all successful candidates will be trained to ensure that they have a thorough knowledge of the procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to the administration of examinations.
What is an invigilator?
An invigilator is a person that is responsible for supervising learners or students during an examination. Furthermore, invigilators admit registered candidates into the examination room, and they monitor rhe process of the writing examination, from the start until the end of examinations.
Invigilators are also required to safeguard the security of examination venues and material, submit daily reports to the district office, and overall, protect the integrity and creditability of examination processes.

Salary/Remuneration: paid per session as per rate, in accordance with Personnel Administration
Measurement (PAM) as per amended.
Matric Exams Supervisors – 2023/24 Minimum Requirements:
- Interested applicants must be South African citizens above the age of 25 years but younger than 60.
- Must be in possession of a Grade 12/Matric certificate.
- Unemployed/retired educators are encouraged to apply.
- Interested foreign nationals who have a passport and work permit which is valid for more than six (6)months, SAQA and DHET evaluation Certificate may apply.
Required Documents:
- A filled in 2023/24 Invigilators Application Form (1)
- Certified copy of Identity Document, Matric Certificate or tertiary qualification and recent photos.
Please Note:
The copies of the required documents must only be certified by SAPS and must be valid for 3 months from the date of application.
Any Applicant with relatives/close friends registered to write NSC/SC cannot be appointed in the centres where these candidates are registered.
All appointed applicants will be required to sign a binding 1-year contract with the Education Department.
