Traffic Officer Job Opportunities Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must have a Matric certificate and a Traffic Officer Diploma.
- At least 12 months operational experience.
- Clear criminal record, no previous convictions.
- A valid EB driving license
- Registered as a Road Traffic Law Enforcement Officer.
- Examiner of Driving License and Vehicles Diplomas advantageous.

Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of road traffic systems, practices and processes, the Road Traffic Management Corporation Act, National Road Traffic Act, and Criminal Procedure Act.
- Understanding of law enforcement principles, the Road Traffic sector, Road Transport management legislation, and inter-governmental relations.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Conduct effective law enforcement to ensure safety on the roads, point duty (traffic control), speed measuring, overload control, pedestrian violation enforcement, crowd control, effective law enforcement to ensure safety on the roads and physical escorts for VIPs, abnormal loads, and events.
- Attend to moving violations, drunken driving, and road accidents.
- Stop vehicles for inspections and issue traffic fines/citations and warnings.
- Impound cars that are not road worthy, illegally parked or abandoned.
- Public transport law enforcement.
- Record accidents and secure accident scenes.
- Liaise with SAPS and gather information regarding road accidents scenes.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all policies and Standard Operating Procedures in the execution of duties.
- Use equipment and vehicles effectively.
- Maintain records and register in the work area.
- Give evidence in court for any transgression.
- Keep records of activities and compile reports concerning infringements, transgressors, accidents.
- Share information and work with other law enforcement agencies as directed and
appropriate. - Value adding relationships built with stakeholders.
- Continuously develop own personal expertise and drive personal growth.
