Hospital Kitchen Staff Wanted: The LDH invites interested applicants to apply for Food Service – General Workers positions. There are 280 available opportunities for this vacancy.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the pre-preparation of food and cooking food for normal and therapeutic diet following the standardized recipes.

For the duration of their one-year contract, incumbents will receive a montly stipend.

Hospital Kitchen Staff Wanted – Minimun Requirements:

Applicants must have passed Grade 12 or equivalent (Abet NQF level 4)
A National Vocational certificate in Hospitality Management from TVET will be advantageous.
Willing to work shifts and extra hours on short notice.
Communication skills (read and write)
Must be able to understand and follow safety procedures, and able to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Pre-prepare and cooking food for different diets (normal and therapeutic) as per the standard recipes.
Blend food for soft and liquid diets using a food processor or blender.
Portion, serve and pack meals on delivery carts according to the wards diet lists requirements.
Place eating utensils and condiments on trays.
Examine all trays and carts to check that they are complete.

Collect delivery carts from wards following serving of food.
Supply clean cutlery and crockery during meals.

Additional Responsibilities:

Pack food into storerooms, package and label therapeutic diets as per ward diet list.
Wash dishes and clean the kitchen.
Ensure that tables, cabinets and ovens are clean and tidy.
Empty waste bins regularly and collect all garbage and place it in designated containers.

Adhere to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards on food handling and preparations to ensure food safety.
Ensure that all activities performed in the kitchen and wards during serving times are in-line with HACCP.
