Early Childhood Development Programme – 2025 : The YearBeyond Little Explorers ECD Programme is an initiative designed to support Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres and local households in communities across the Eastern Cape.
This programme aims to improve preschool children’s literacy and motor skills by creating an engaging environment that encourages a love for stories while promoting physical activity.
The programme will operate in various areas within the Eastern Cape. Applicants should be based in these regions to participate in the programme.
Please note that this opportunity is not available to individuals who have previously been part of any YearBeyond programme.

To apply for the YearBeyond Little Explorers Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Age: 18-25 years old
- At least a Grade 10 qualification
- You must live in or near one of the areas where the programme operates
- A genuine interest in working with preschool children and a commitment to early childhood development.
Early Childhood Development Programme – 2025: Duties & Responsibilities
Participants in the YeBo (YearBeyond) Little Explorers Programme, also known as YeBoneers, are assigned roles where they work directly with ECD centres.
- They lead fun and interactive literacy, fine motor, and gross motor sessions once a week, which are carefully designed to enhance children’s development.
- YeBoneers make home visits to support households with children who do not attend ECD centres, ensuring that these children also have access to valuable early childhood learning experiences.
- The programme is committed to empowering both children and families within their communities, helping to bridge gaps in early education.
