Metro Police Learnership Programme 2025 – Programme Overview:
Successful applicants will undergo 18 months of intense training at the JMPD Training Academy. After successful completion, they will be appointed as Metropolitan Police Officers, serving communities across Johannesburg.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be in possession of a valid Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- Reside within the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (proof of residence required)
- Be between the ages of 18 – 35 years
- Have no criminal record or convictions
- Hold a valid Driver’s License (Code B) – No learner’s licenses accepted
- Be physically and mentally fit (medical certificate required)
- Be able to complete a fitness assessment
- Be willing to undergo vetting and biometric checks
- Be fluent in English
- Be prepared to carry a firearm and wear uniform

Stipend and Training Conditions
Trainees will sign a training contract and receive a monthly stipend during training (as per City policy). They will be bound by Academy rules and RTMC policies.
