This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring nurses to study at one of four reputable campuses across the province – Ann Latsky Campus, Bonalesedi Campus, Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus, or SG Lourens Campus.
Successful students will receive a bursary from the Gauteng Department of Health, covering tuition and other study-related costs.

Programme Overview
The Diploma in Nursing is a structured three-year programme that combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience in hospitals and clinics. Students will gain essential skills in patient care, community health, and clinical practice while being mentored by qualified professionals in the field.
This qualification opens the door to a fulfilling career in nursing, with graduates being able to serve in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings across South Africa.

Student Nurse Intake 2026 – Apply Now – Who Can Apply?
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens residing in the Gauteng Province.
Hold one of the following:
- Senior Certificate (Standard 10): English HG D or SG C, Biology HG D or SG C, Mathematics HG D or SG C, and an M-score of 17.
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12): English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4 or Maths Literacy Level 5, and an APS of at least 27 (Life Orientation counts half).
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4: At least 50% in English, Maths/Maths Literacy, and Life Orientation; plus 60% in vocational subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, Human Body and Mind, and Community Primary Care).
- Current Grade 12 learners may apply using their Grade 11 final results.
Applicants already working in nursing, such as Auxiliary or Enrolled Nurses, are also encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to learners from Quintile 1–3 schools, townships, informal settlements, and hostel communities in Gauteng.

2. Medical surveillance, including a physical examination

Students must sign an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health and commit to:
- Attending lectures regularly
- Participating in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes night duty, weekends, and public holidays at Department of Health facilities
