As a Hospital General Assistant, you will be part of the invisible backbone of hospital services. Everyday tasks may include:

• Transporting patients – in wheelchairs or beds – to wards, theatre, or diagnostic rooms.

• Moving medical equipment, furniture, supplies, and even clinical waste when needed.

• Delivering lab samples, medicine, or patient notes to the correct departments on time.

• Assisting with general cleaning, sterilising areas, and helping to keep the hospital hygienic and safe.

• Providing support at reception or greeting patients and visitors when required.

In short , you help make sure that patients reach where they need to go, and that hospital staff have what they need to care for those patients. Without assistants, hospital workflow could slow down dramatically.

The ideal candidate is:

• In good physical health – able to stand, walk, and lift as needed.

• Friendly, patient, and respectful toward patients, family members, and hospital colleagues.

• Committed to following hygiene and safety protocols strictly.

• Fluent in English (or local language requirement) and able to understand instructions.

• Preferably with a Grade 10 – 12 education (many assistant roles accept Matric or equivalent). Clear criminal record often required.

No formal medical qualification is needed,  but you must be reliable, responsible, and ready to work shifts (including nights or weekends) is a must.
