About the Programme

The programme is structured over four years, starting in South Africa and continuing in Germany. The first year focuses on preparing you for life and work in Germany. During this year, you will complete a German language course (B2 Business German) at the Goethe-Institut, equipping you with the skills to communicate effectively in a professional healthcare environment.
You will also gain hands-on experience at The German Senior Residence and Baby Therapy Centre, where you will develop essential geriatric nursing skills and learn the practical aspects of patient care.

After successfully completing the first year in South Africa, you will move to Germany to begin a 3-year “Ausbildung” (apprenticeship). This stage combines on-the-job training with classroom learning, giving you real-world nursing experience while furthering your theoretical knowledge.
The apprenticeship is fully funded by the German institution, and participants receive accommodation and a monthly allowance. Upon completion, you will have the option to either return to South Africa or continue your career in Germany, giving you flexibility and choice for your professional future.
Programme Overview
Year 1 – South Africa:

Who Can Apply
- South African youth aged 18–34.
- Must have Grade 12 with University Exemption/Bachelor’s pass.
- No prior nursing experience required.
- High command of English (essential for learning German).
- No criminal record (visa requirement).

- Volunteering or short courses in healthcare are advantageous but not required.
